How to change where a QR code points — without reprinting

The short answer
You can change where a QR code points after printing, but only if it is a dynamic QR code. A static code bakes the destination in at print time; a dynamic code stores a short link that redirects, so editing the destination changes where every future scan goes. No reprint, no new code, no waiting.
Static vs dynamic: the one difference that matters
A static QR code encodes the final URL directly into the pattern. Change the URL and the pattern has to change — which means a new print job.
A dynamic QR code encodes a short qr-evolve link instead. When someone scans it, that link redirects to whatever destination is currently saved. Edit the destination in the dashboard and the next scan goes to the new place.
- Static: change destination → reprint. Always.
- Dynamic: change destination → edit in dashboard, done.
- Dynamic also gives you scan analytics; static gives you none.
What you can change on a dynamic QR code
The destination URL itself, of course — swap a menu for a booking page, an offer for a reviews page, a listing for a directions page.
The schedule: set content to rotate automatically with start and end times, so the code shows lunch until 3pm and dinner after, without touching it.
Nothing about the printed code changes. The pattern, the sticker, the table tent — all stay exactly as printed.
What a printed QR code that changes means for a business
One code replaces a stack of printed ones. Restaurants update menus without reordering cards. Real estate agents point one sign at this week’s open house, then next week’s. Retailers run a seasonal campaign without swapping posters.
It also means no dead links: if a schedule runs dry or a plan changes, a scan falls back to the last saved content instead of a blank page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change a QR code after it is printed?
Only if it is a dynamic QR code. Dynamic codes store a redirect link, so editing the destination changes where every future scan goes — no reprinting.
How do I change where my QR code points?
Open the code in your qr-evolve dashboard, edit the destination URL, and save. The next scan goes to the new destination. You can also set a schedule so it changes automatically.
Do I need to reprint my QR code when my offer changes?
No. With a dynamic QR code, the printed code never changes — only the destination it points to. That is the entire point of dynamic QR codes.
